Job Opportunity: Clinical Lab Scientist (Laboratory)

Location: Covington, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shifts: Alternating shifts - 7 days on, 7 days off (Wednesday night to Tuesday night)
• Departments: Core Lab and Blood Bank
• Special Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable with Trauma/Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP) blood bank
  • MLS/MT/MLT credentials also accepted
  • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of hospital clinical laboratory experience
• Preferred Experience:

  • Epic system experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Required Certifications:

  • ASCP certification
  • Louisiana state license
• Dress Code: Scrubs in Caribbean Blue

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• Various health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panels required)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Competency exams and annual updates as required by facility policies

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is explicitly required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Epic system experience and Trauma Level II experience are preferred but not mandatory.
• Weekend work is required as part of the schedule.

This position is ideal for experienced clinical laboratory professionals comfortable working in trauma and blood bank settings, with prior travel contract experience.
