Job Description

• Position in PCU Float Pool, night shift
• May float to any stepdown/PCU area or other campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd)
• Floating may include units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Estimated patient ratios: 1:3-4

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel experience not explicitly required
• Required skills: IV start, telemetry (tele)
• EPIC electronic health record experience required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS and ACLS certifications must be current (AHA only; instructor/provider and RQI acceptable)
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) but not specified for this role

Licensure & Background Checks

• Valid RN license verification required within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RN licensure
• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
• Background checks monitored monthly (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
• Immunizations required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed with documentation)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Compliance with facility-specific policies including dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and fraud/waste/abuse training
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and ethics/compliance policies

Summary

This is a travel/contract RN position in a PCU float pool with night shifts in Columbus, Ohio.
