Job Opportunity: RN Hemodialysis (Brooklyn, NY)
Position Summary
- Provide direct, individualized nursing care to End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients requiring hemodialysis.
- Conduct ongoing physical, psychosocial, and pain assessments, including patient education needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for ESRD patients on hemodialysis.
- Monitor patient vital signs, weight, pain, and observe for complications such as volume overload, air embolism, hemolysis, seizures, arrhythmias, hypotension, and other emergencies.
- Operate and demonstrate competency with dialysis machines and related procedures (e.g., changing dialyzers, blood lines).
- Initiate and terminate hemodialysis treatments for patients with AV grafts, fistulas, and catheters.
- Administer and document prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Promote prevention of hospital-acquired conditions and falls.
- Initiate referrals to outpatient clinics and community resources as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in medical-surgical, emergency room, or critical care.
- Minimum 1 year related experience as a dialysis nurse in hemodialysis.
- Commitment to continuing professional growth and development.
- Critical thinking, math, and computer skills (Excel, Word).
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Strong teamwork, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, hearing, speaking).
- Ability to fully utilize electronic medical record systems and healthcare billing systems.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Preferred Education
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current New York State RN License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Preferred Certifications
- Basic Arrhythmia Class with Certificate.
- Nephrology Nursing Certification.

Yes, I had a very good experience and the staff was amazing. They didn't want me to leave lol.
Cons
The most problem I had was floating to PICU and the unit is not esthetically pleasing as it is an older hospital. But as for flexibility the manager was awesome and cost of living is expensive.
