Job Description

• Collect and document health history from patients and families, using age-appropriate communication (adolescent, adult, geriatric).
• Complete admission assessments timely and notify consults when criteria are met.
• Perform ongoing reassessments of patients’ developmental, biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge needs.
• Develop and update individualized, age-appropriate plans of care involving patients and families.
• Recognize and document nursing interventions and patient outcomes.
• Delegate and coordinate patient care using an interdisciplinary approach.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and legible documentation of patient responses to interventions, medications, treatments, and education.
• Comply with Department of Health and regulatory requirements.
• Assess patient/family comprehension and provide appropriate teaching using age-appropriate tools.
• Initiate and implement discharge planning from admission through hospital stay.
• Participate in interdisciplinary patient care meetings.
• Transcribe and sign off orders correctly and timely; clarify unclear orders before implementation.
• Apply telemetry leads correctly and coordinate arrhythmic parameters with Telemetry Technicians.
• Interpret and document telemetry strips; keep physicians informed of cardiac ectopy.
• Initiate chest pain protocols and manage patients on high-risk intravenous cardiac drugs.
• Assist with elective cardioversion as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification
• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) Preferred

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Experience: 2 years in Cardiac/Telemetry (higher end of 1-2 years range)
• 2 years in Acute Care
• Basic dysrhythmia experience required

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required for this position

This role is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in telemetry and acute care nursing, comfortable with cardiac monitoring and critical care protocols.
