Cardiovascular Technician

Location: New York, NY

Job Summary

• Monitor patient blood pressures and notify physician of any changes from baseline.
• Interpret intracardiac pressures to monitor catheter position in the heart.
• Record pressures in all heart chambers as requested by physician.
• Maintain complete procedural records using Cardiac Cath Lab computer systems.
• Calibrate and operate equipment during procedures (e.g., A-Vox, Cardiac Output, ACT).
• Provide physicians with necessary equipment during procedures (catheters, wires, balloons, stents).
• Analyze and process data, printing relevant information.
• Set up and calibrate intra-aortic balloon pump; adjust timing with physician once in place.
• Monitor balloon pump during procedures and accompany patient to CCU, OR, or CSICU.
• Assist in emergencies by performing resuscitation measures (defibrillator operation, artificial resuscitation, external pacing, suctioning).
• Replenish lab supplies and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Report serious equipment malfunctions and shortages to supervisor.
• Learn and apply new technologies and procedures as introduced (e.g., Flow wire, ultrasound, rotablator).
• Operate power injector for large volume dye contrast injections.
• Assist in cardiac catheterizations by setting up sterile equipment and instruments.
• Prepare rooms for patients by entering patient information into the system.
• Assist nursing staff by transporting patients between areas.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in New York.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
