CT Scan Technologist
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Job Summary
- Perform complex CT (computer tomography) procedures producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation.
- Assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
- Review and obtain patient clinical history, document and scan into PACS.
- Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/family.
- Administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed.
- Verify insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications.
- Obtain and schedule outside studies for comparison by Radiologists.
- Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties.
- Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality using PACS.
- Prepare patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization.
- Determine appropriate contrast type and dose.
- Explain procedures and address patient questions at an understandable level.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance per guidelines.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime as needed.
- Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
- Adapt care to meet patient needs including age, culture, language, and disabilities.
Schedule
- Shift: 3 PM – 11:30 PM
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Every third weekend and holidays as needed
- No on-call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
- Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Completion of a High School diploma or equivalent or graduation from a Radiologic Technologist program
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of CT experience preferred
- Experience with Epic and HIS/RIS systems
- ARRT certified R.T. (CT) license preferred
Additional Information
- Must adhere to departmental policies including attendance, punctuality, and standards of behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations
- Teamwork and continuous education (CEU credits) are expected
