Surg Tech - CST Travel Position

Location: Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced OR Tech-CST for a travel assignment in a hospital with an 11-room Operating Room performing approximately 18 cases per day. Cases include general, neuro, orthopedic, urology, ENT, and cranial procedures.

Requirements

• Specialty: Surgical Technologist (CST preferred but not required)
• Experience: Must have orthopedic trauma experience and be competent to independently perform cranial procedures, including neuro-trauma call. Candidates should have experience with total joint and level II trauma cases, as well as general OR experience.
• Certifications: BLS required
• Skills:

  • Must be able to scrub independently
  • Experience with Davinci robotics, Mako, Stealth, and Scopis is a plus
  • Must score 3s in neuro (competency level)
• Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply will result in contract termination

Work Schedule & Call

• Shifts: 8 or 10-hour shifts starting at 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday, consistent weekly schedule
• Call:

  • One weeknight per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next morning)
  • Three weekend days per month (24-hour shifts)
  • Holidays as needed
• Call response time: 15 minutes
• Call scheduling is somewhat self-scheduled but requires flexibility; block scheduling or fixed travel duo schedules are not approved
• Floating: None required

Orientation & Environment

• One week of unit/department-specific orientation
• EMR system: EPIC
• Scrubs provided
• Manager and charge nurse present daily (charge nurse does not take room assignments)
• Positive work environment with strong surgeon/anesthesia partnerships and a variety of case acuity levels
• Desired attributes: strong work ethic, hustle, willingness to speak up about patient safety, positive attitude, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Additional Notes

• Pediatric cases are handled by RNs only
• Scrubbing is required for techs but not for RNs
• Travelers must be flexible and willing to float and work as needed
