Job Opportunity: Inpatient Rehab RN
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Inpatient rehab unit with acute, post-acute, and neuro patients
- 35 beds
- Patient types include adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Amputee, Brain Injury (BI), critical illness, neurological diseases (MS, Parkinson’s, etc.)
Staffing & Ratios
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Days: 1:5
- Nights: 1:6
- Nurse aides/patient care techs present with ratios approximately 1:10-15
- Charge Nurse on each shift
Shifts & Scheduling
- Shift times:
- Days: 06:30 - 19:00
- Nights: 18:30 - 07:00
- Cyclic self-scheduling available
- Weekend requirement: At minimum every 3rd weekend
- Holiday requirement: At minimum 2 holidays
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating to MedSurg required
Orientation & Training
- Classroom orientation plus 2 twelve-hour shifts on the unit
- RN Pass/Fail exam during orientation (open book, 90% required to pass)
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care areas
Certifications & Requirements
- BLS certification required
- Valid driver’s license required at submission (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
- Candidates may NOT be currently full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
Clinical Practice
- RNs are NOT required to titrate drips
- Common drips include antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelets
