Job Opportunity: MedSurg RN in Florida

Location

• Marianna, Florida
• Small community hospital with approximately 88 beds
• 28-bed MedSurg unit near Panama City Beach and Tallahassee

Position Details

• Specialty: MedSurg RN
• Shift: Midshift (11am - 7pm), Friday to Friday, 8 on / 6 off schedule
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday), with flexibility for more weekends
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• No float except to PCU; travelers float with perm staff, only assigned patients within skill set if no PCU experience
• Orientation: 1 day floor-specific orientation plus pre-orientation packet
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:6, rarely 1:7; PCU ratios 1:4 when normal

Unit Information

• MedSurg/Telemetry unit with 28 beds (can surge to 28)
• Telemetry monitored remotely in ICU; nurses do not read strips
• Occasional use of CPAP, BiPAP, or High Flow O2; no vents on unit
• Drips (Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone) rarely titrated; prior drip experience preferred but not required
• No IV team; PICC & Midline certified staff assist with difficult sticks
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7, manages vents, EKGs, breathing treatments, ABGs
• Pharmacy not 24/7; medication dispensing via Omnicell

Required Qualifications

• Florida RN license required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and PALS preferred but not required
• Minimum 1 year experience in MedSurg specialty plus prior travel experience required (candidates need approximately 15-18 months total experience)
• Prior travel experience explicitly required

• Holidays: Travelers integrated into permanent staff holiday rotation

Scheduling Options

• Preferred shift: Evening 3pm-11pm (or 11am-11pm with admission nurse duties 11am-2pm)
• Other option: Night shift 7pm-7am (12-hour)
• Perm staff work 8-hour shifts; travelers may work 12-hour shifts if agreed
