Registered Nurse (PCU)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking Night PCU Registered Nurses for a fast-paced progressive care unit. The unit has 35 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:4-5. Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs.

Shift Details

Shifts: 06:30-19:00 and 18:30-07:00 (12-hour shifts)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
No call or standby requirements
Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be required

Orientation

First week: Onboarding
1-2 days of unit-specific orientation

Patient Care & Responsibilities

RNs are required to titrate drips (e.g., Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure medications)
Charge nurse present on each shift (charge nurse takes assignment)
Nurse aides/patient care techs support with ratios around 1:10 or 2:20

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years as an RN
Minimum 1 year of unit-specific experience in PCU or similar setting
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Valid driver’s license required (used to verify candidate location within 50 miles radius)
Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book skills exam during orientation

Additional Information

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
Positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are essential for success
Radius rule: Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities within 50 miles
Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions will be approved
