Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location: Grand Island, Nebraska
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (day and night)
Schedule: Every other weekend rotation; holiday coverage as needed

Job Description
Seeking experienced Labor & Delivery RNs for a travel assignment in Nebraska. This role involves working in a busy LDRP unit with approximately 400 births per year. The unit has 15 LDRP beds and 15 postpartum beds, following AWHONN guidelines with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 and 1:1 for laboring patients.
Typical patient population includes obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical gynecology, and pregnancies complicated by hypertension or diabetes. RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, and Procardia. Floating is rare and limited to non-patient care tasks if critical staffing occurs.
The unit is recognized for high patient care standards and is breastfeeding friendly.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Nebraska
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience
- BLS Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book)
- Valid driver’s license required at submission (used to verify candidate is outside a 50-mile radius)
- Compliance with fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
Orientation & Training
- 1 week classroom orientation
- 2-3 shifts of floor orientation
Additional Information
- No call or standby requirements
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes assignments
- No requirement to manage respiratory equipment beyond troubleshooting
- No telemetry or monitor tech support; RNs do not read their own strips
- Schedule managed by the unit manager
- Candidates cannot currently be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN within 50 miles at certain affiliated facilities
- Return to work (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
