Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU 4N
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks
Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 7pm–7am)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit & Patient Care Details
- Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) combined with Med-Surgical and Telemetry beds
- Unit Size: 12 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4 to 1:5 depending on patient acuity
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Med-Surg cases, Sickle Cell, Heart Failure, Stepdown patients
- Nurse Responsibilities:
- Titrate set-rate drips as needed
- Pull own labs (no phlebotomy performed by RNs)
- Support Staff: Nurse aides present (ratio 1:12), Charge Nurse takes assignment
- Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Nasal cannula, face masks, BiPAP
- Telemetry Monitoring: Monitored remotely on a different floor; RNs do not read their own strips
- Telemetry Monitors Brand: Space Lab
Scheduling & Work Environment
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed; manager aims for blocked schedules when possible
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Not required
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs
- Orientation:
- One day computer skills training with knowledge assessment
- Two shifts orientation with preceptor
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Onboarding: Must be completed at least 7 calendar days before start date
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Georgia at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of relevant hospital experience in a similar size and acuity setting
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience (permanent or float) within the last 3 years
- At least 1 completed travel nursing contract preferred; if no travel experience, then 3+ years total experience required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- Must pass clinical resume review and have a clean license record (no license hits; NURSYS report required)
- Experience with Telemetry patients and PCU skillset required
