Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced ER nurse in California.
• Contract length: 18 weeks.
• Shift: Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.
• Unit: ER with 33 total patient care rooms and 2 triage bays.
• Patient ratio: 1:4.
• Average volume: about 210 patients.

Required Qualifications

• 2 full years of ER experience.
• Active BLS.
• Active ACLS.
• Active NIHSS.
• Active CA license.
• Cerner EMR experience.
• Strong, thorough documentation skills.

Schedule

• Self-scheduling is used, with the scheduler able to rebalance as needed.
• Cannot accommodate scheduling requests.
• 2 weekends per 4 weeks.
• 2 of 3 holidays.
• Start times include 11A.

Clinical Setting

• ER nurses take ER holds.
• The unit sends out STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric patients.
• Stroke certified.
• Base hospital for EMS.
• Follows EMTALA.
• RT is available 24/7.
• Pharmacy is available 24/7.
• No IV team.
• No floating outside of the ER.

Orientation

• Up to 6 shifts with a preceptor.
• Hospital modules are assigned during orientation, not before assignment.

Additional Notes

• Charge nurse is present 24/7.
• Central monitor station at both nurses stations.
• Vents are managed by RT.
• ER techs with EMT, MA, or CNA experience perform tech duties and EKGs.
• Scrub color: navy blue; scrub jacket and undershirt color restrictions apply.
