Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 7:00)
- Total 36 hours per week
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Adult and Geriatric patients primarily; Pediatrics preferred
- Therapist will assist with pediatric patients including Pediatric ER patients; must be comfortable with all ages
- Facility size: approximately 700 beds
- 7 adult ICUs with 16 beds each, plus pediatric and adult acute care units
- Floating required within the Metro Region among multiple hospitals, including mid-shift floating to ensure guaranteed hours
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide general and critical respiratory care including:
- Medication delivery (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Xopenex)
- Bronchopulmonary hygiene and hyperinflation therapy
- Initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Airway management and suctioning (endotracheal tube, nasal/oral airway, tracheostomy)
- Cuff and ETCO2 monitoring, intubation assist, extubation, maintenance of indwelling lines
- Responding to rapid responses and emergency codes, performing CPR
- Blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, spontaneous breathing parameters
- Assist in high-risk neonatal/pediatric deliveries
- Preferred experience with changing tubing and bags for invasive/arterial lines on certain campuses
- Care of patients undergoing bronchoscopy
Required Equipment Experience
- Ventilators: Servo I, Avea, Bella Vista
- Ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Oxygen therapy: High Flow Nasal Cannula, Trach collar
- Nebulizers: Hand held, T-piece, Trach collar
- Medication delivery systems: Aerosol set up mask/trach, Medihaler, Metered dose inhaler
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- High-risk experience preferred; if none, must be open to on-site high-risk training
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable providing basic pediatric respiratory therapy care
- Must be willing to float between hospitals within the metro region as needed
- Scrub color: Grey
- No local travelers within 50 miles allowed
Compliance and Background Checks
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months for applicable units; must have results on file for clearance and updated annually
- Education verification required for highest level of education
- Professional references: 2 required within 2 years of start, at least one from a leader (Charge RN or above)
- Skills checklist required for all candidates
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within last 12 months (latex-free PPE environment)
- N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start, updated annually; onsite completion possible with approval if needed
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination accepted (except for certain pediatric facilities)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 3 months of start, updated annually; chest X-ray if history of positive TB
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via positive titer, vaccination, or approved exemption
- Hepatitis B series, positive titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity via positive titer, vaccination, or approved exemption
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable unless on prescription medications)
Competency Exams and Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs (not applicable here but noted)
- Other certifications such as PALS, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI may be required depending on unit (verify with recruiter)
Electronic Medical Record System
- Epic experience required

It is ideal for RRTs with at least one year of experience who are comfortable with adult critical care and pediatric respiratory therapy, and who hold the necessary Ohio licensure and certifications.
