Job Opportunity: CT Tech

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 PM – 6:30 AM (4x10 hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Job Description

  • Perform CT imaging using Siemens scanners in a Level 1 trauma center with high complexity cases.
  • Daily caseload typical for CT technologists.
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required; no floating to sister facilities.
  • Work settings include outpatient and inpatient environments.
  • Experience preferred in Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital, Community Hospital, and Adult ICU settings.
  • Procedures required: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, CT Angiographies (CTAs), Multiplanar Reconstruction.
  • Preferred procedures: Aspirations/Biopsies, Brain Perfusion, Colonography, CT Arthrography, Drainage, Myelography, Transplant Studies.
  • General skills required: PACS, use of contrast agents.
  • Preferred skills: IV starts, portable imaging, biopsies.

Required Qualifications

  • CT Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • CT Technologist experience within the last year.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ARRT CT certification.
  • Experience working in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) if required by unit.
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, MAB) – check unit-specific requirements.
  • Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Monitor Techs (not applicable here).
  • IV certification preferred but not explicitly required for CT Tech.

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a full panel of substances.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Background checks including criminal, statewide, and federal exclusions must be current.
  • Education verification required.
  • Missouri-specific background checks and registries apply.
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab float assignments (not applicable here).

Facility & Work Environment

  • Level 1 Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital, Short Term Acute Care.
  • Total staffed beds: 1259.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Parking available with monthly passes; free parking for straight night shifts.
  • Dress code and hygiene policies must be followed.
  • Orientation required; parking instructions provided during orientation.

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Employment application required.
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred).
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months).
  • HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, and dress code policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Regulatory compliance education quiz must be completed annually.
  • Vehicle registration required for certain roles.
  • Additional facility-specific documents and training modules may be required.

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel assignment.
  • No floating to sister facilities.
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Candidates with experience in large hospital settings or Level 1 trauma centers are preferred.
