Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• 9 Trauma: 45-bed medical/surgical unit focused on trauma patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable.
• Fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit caring for acute and chronic trauma needs.
• Patients admitted from Emergency Department, ICU transfers, or surgical/procedural services.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).

Schedule & Floating

• 36 or 48-hour shift options available.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs; may float to various units including neuro, observation, trauma, and others within the hospital system.
• First priority for floating is given to travelers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NRP certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications & Compliance

• BLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP as applicable per unit.
• Background check within 30 days of start, including federal and state-level screenings.
• Drug screening within 60 days of start and updated annually.
• Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, TB testing, flu vaccination documentation or declination.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years required.

Additional Information

• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs (facility branded) required.
• Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates.
• RTO (Request Time Off) restrictions: Up to 2 weeks allowed; must be submitted with application. Additional time off at manager discretion.
• Facility is a 100% nicotine-free environment.

• Travelers must be prepared to float frequently.
• First-time travelers generally not accepted unless meeting specific experience criteria.
• Must be willing to work required holidays and weekends.
• Pending licenses accepted but may delay start date.
• Strict compliance with background checks, immunizations, and certifications is mandatory.
