Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5
• Unit cares for all types of cardiac patients including:

  • Pre & post cardiac intervention monitoring (arterial/venous access sites, TR bands)
  • Pre-open heart surgery care
  • Pre & post pacemaker and ICD permanent insertion
  • Congestive heart failure (CHF), stroke patients
  • IV drips including Cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, NTG, antiarrhythmics, platelet-aggregation inhibitors, anticoagulants
• Experience with cardiac telemetry packs and IV pumps (initiation and setup of IV drips) required
• Familiarity with Pyxis, clinical documentation systems, glucometers preferred
• Navy blue scrubs required

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only) - required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only) - preferred
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Experience: Cardiac telemetry experience required (years not explicitly stated, but cardiac telemetry experience is mandatory)
• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and other standard screenings required
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency required within 6 months of start
• Physical exam and immunizations/vaccinations required per facility standards, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 6 months)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B titer/vaccine or declination form
  • Varicella titer or vaccinations
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required (medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation)
  • COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; declination form required if opting out
• Drug screening within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Completion of facility-specific new hire forms, confidentiality agreements, standards of behavior, IT access forms, OSHA post-test, and other onboarding documentation required prior to start
