Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts
  • 12-hour shifts (1900-0730)
  • Every other weekend and some holidays
  • No on-call required

Required Experience & Skills

  • CVICU experience required
  • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required
  • Must pass Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required

Required Testing & Competencies

  • Telemetry pass/fail testing (Adult Annual Telemetry Test) required before start
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Annual skills checklist required

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace and nationwide search
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated)
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
  • Physical exam (must meet agency standard)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or exemption
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if applicable)

Additional Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
  • Signed acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing
  • Completion of facility-specific forms such as communicable disease and caregiver screening forms
  • Completion of rhythm interpretation remediation course if second telemetry test attempt is failed

References & Documentation

  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
  • Employment application required

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience, with experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine
  • Acknowledgement of Orientation Safety Manual
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing requirements
  • Successful completion of Pass/Fail Testing including EKG and Medication/Pharmacology competency exams

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

  • Contract start dates available: 4/20, 5/4, or 5/18/2026.
