Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Neuro
Location

Unit Description
- Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown)
- 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery
- Patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions
- Multi-care level unit; RNs may care for up to five Med Surg patients
- Includes long-term EEG monitoring beds
Staffing Ratios
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights
- Stepdown: 1:3-4 (days and nights)
Schedule
- 36 or 48-hour shift options
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday
- Weekend nights: Friday night and Saturday night
Key Responsibilities
- Frequent floating required to meet staffing needs, including potential float to other campuses/units within scope
- Drip medication administration required on all floors
- EPIC electronic charting system experience required
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a large, urban hospital
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
Licensure
- Registered Nurse license required for Nebraska
- Pending license accepted if in hand at time of submission; otherwise, booking will be delayed by six weeks
Certifications
- ACLS, BLS required as applicable per unit
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment
Facility Policies
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs required (specific color and style mandated)
- Parking permits available for purchase or daily parking options
Additional Requirements
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- Background checks, drug screening, and various health documents required prior to start
- Physical exam, immunizations (including Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Varicella), TB testing, and flu vaccination documentation required
- Annual skills checklist and references from work within the past 2 years required
Notes
- Travelers are expected to float frequently to meet staffing needs
- RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates apply during College World Series (June 11-22, 2026)
- Up to two weeks of RTO permitted with manager approval
- Strict adherence to facility policies and documentation requirements is mandatory
