Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (Acute Care)

Job Description

• Provide speech-language pathology services in an acute care hospital setting.
• Must be proficient in Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) evaluations.
• Must be comfortable floating to nearby hospital locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active California Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
• Experience working in an acute care environment.
• Ability to float to other hospital locations within the region.

Preferred Start Dates

• Early May to early June (specific dates available upon inquiry).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Proof of W4 and I9 documentation on file.
• 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, county, state, federal, and national criminal and sex offender searches.
• Health and safety certifications including:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (no declinations accepted).
  • Required immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination.
  • Annual flu vaccination or agency declination.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Proof of N95 mask fit test within one year prior to start.
• Drug screening (9-panel) within one year of start.
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to start.
• Completion and signing of confidentiality, standards of conduct, and other facility-required agreements.
• Two satisfactory professional references.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• No scrub color requirement; scrubs provided for OR and Labor & Delivery.
• Experience with electronic medical records systems (EPIC or Cerner) preferred; less than 6 months experience may require approval.
• Must complete facility-required training modules (~8 hours) before start date.
• Floating to other hospital locations within the system is mandatory.
