Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech
Location: Berlin, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced X-Ray Tech for a community hospital radiology unit. This is a travel contract position with an urgent need for an ASAP start. The assignment is for 13 weeks.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Facility size: 75 beds
- Unit: Radiology with 3 X-ray rooms in main department and 2 X-ray units at Orthopedics
- Teaching facility experience required
- Trauma Level: Community Hospital
- Shift: Primarily day shifts with variable start times (7:00-3:30, 8:00-4:30, 8:30-5:00, or 9:00-5:30)
- Schedule: 72 hours biweekly (9 shifts of 8 hours over two weeks)
- Weekend work: Every other weekend minimum, rotating between 5 techs (8a-2p on weekends and holidays)
- Floating required
- Call requirements: None
- Patient age range: Newborn to elderly
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Vermont
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Radiology Technician, including specialty X-Ray Tech experience
- Radiology Technician experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- Experience working in a teaching facility
- Experience with OR cases, Fluoroscopy, and C-Arm
- Experience with EPIC Radiant
Equipment & Systems
- Equipment used: Philips, Canon, Carestream, Philips Portables, OEC C-arms (9800, Elite Large and mini)
- Documentation system: EPIC Radiant
- PACS: Philips Isite
Orientation & Training
- Orientation length: 5 days
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- No block schedules allowed
- Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start
Dress Code
- Scrubs required, no specific color requirements
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November to April
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and detailed work history required (including bed count, EMR, facility type)
- Must comply with facility-specific policies and complete required documentation/forms prior to start
Required Certifications & Health Documents
- ARRT certification
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications as applicable (AHA standards)
- Physical exam within 12 months
- N95 Fit Test (annual)
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive TB test (annual updates)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (strict flu vaccine policy)
- COVID vaccination or declination
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination if assigned to NY facility
Background & Verification
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification required
- Professional references: 2 verified from assignments within last 3 years
- Work history verification: 2 years of most recent clinical work
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- State-specific criminal background checks as applicable
Important Notes
- This is an urgent need position with an ASAP start
- No call requirements but floating is required
- Must be able to work a flexible day shift schedule with weekend rotation
- Must complete all required documentation and training prior to start
This position is ideal for a radiology technologist with solid clinical experience, recent EPIC experience, and prior travel contract experience looking for a short-term assignment in a community teaching hospital setting.
