Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call Requirements: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO; no RTO day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float facility; ICU RNs will float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and possibly Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Orientation: First week includes orientation and precepting on day shift
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU (highest required)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for ICU and critical care RNs)
- Licensing: Must have an active RN license for Illinois (pending licenses not accepted)
- Local Candidates: Locals accepted and preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing as required
- Completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

- No block scheduling; shifts are fixed as described
- Locals preferred but travel nurses are accepted if within commuting distance
