Job Details

• Specialty: Laboratory
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in the specialty (Laboratory)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends required
• Call: None
• Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
• Unit Procedures: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis
• Lead Blood Bank Experience: Must have lead blood bank experience (hard stop)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Medical Technologist license for the state of Georgia
• Lead Blood Bank experience required
• Background check and education verification required
• Compliance with all required certifications and competencies prior to start

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required unless specialty is Microbiology Tech or Med Tech
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Refer to specialty requirements; generally for RN/RRT/CRT in specific areas, may not apply here
• Other Certifications: Follow facility guidelines as applicable
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks)
  • Other competency exams as required by the facility

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if prior positive)
• TB Questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Additional Information

• Clinical screening required to determine fit before final approval
• Maximum return to office (RTO) time: 7 days
• Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in assignment pushback

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Medical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience, including lead blood bank experience. The position is Monday through Friday with no weekend or call requirements. Prior travel experience is not required. Candidates must meet all licensing, certification, health, and compliance requirements before starting.
