Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
- Guaranteed 36 or 48 hour shifts
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Floating primarily in ICU, but may float to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, ICU units
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- ICU: 1:2-3
- PCU: 1:4-5
- MS, MS Tele: 1:5-6
- Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (approx. 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Registered Nurse - Critical Care)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if required by unit)
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
- Skills:
- Experience with ICU, MS, MS Tele, PCU, Neuro ICU, CVICU diagnoses
- Ability to float primarily in ICU and other related units
- Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac tele/step-down, ICU, PCU)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with specific requirements if history of positive TB)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending at start with proof)
- Two clinical references required
Work Environment & Additional Information
- Floating required
- No call requirements
- Must comply fully with orientation and credentialing timelines to avoid assignment delays
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length
