Position Details
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift (independence required)
- Experience Required:
- Preferred: Minimum 2 years L&D experience for independent night shift work
- Considered: 1 to 1.5 years experience if worked on a high risk/high census L&D unit
- Floating: Yes, may float between units based on needs (including other Providence facilities in the region)
- On-Call: Yes, 1 low census shift per pay period
- Weekends: Required every other or every third weekend
- Patient Ratios:
- Labor: 1:1
- Postpartum: 1:3
- 48-Hour Shifts: Not approved
- Vehicle: Must have a vehicle for assignment and floating
Floating Details
- Floating may include facilities in Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent.
- Floating to Seaside includes additional incentives and accommodations for consecutive shifts.
- Facility will provide as much notice as possible for floating assignments.
Uniform and Parking
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed except OR/Critical Care/ED/Maternal Child where scrubs are provided
- Parking: No fee
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- BLS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- PALS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Chemotherapy (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification acceptable
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)
- State License (RN license verification required)
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification (3rd party) for nursing degree
- State-specific searches as applicable (Oregon Abuse/Neglect, Washington WSP/WATCH, OBRA Registry for CNAs in WA)
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in relevant specialty within last 3 years
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps/overlaps
Health Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask Test (N95 or equivalent) annually, completed onsite if no recent record
- Immunizations/Vaccines:
- Tdap (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
- Flu Vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID Vaccine or declination
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for respirator use, annually for travel candidates
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
- Competency Exams as required by specialty
- EFM training or certification required for all L&D RNs (effective 9/30/2024)
- Medication Aide exam required for CNAs with LTC specialty at certain Oregon Assisted Living facilities
- Epic training modules required (specific to facility and specialty)
- Providence WorkRamp LMS modules:
- Core modules for Oregon facilities and specialty-specific modules for L&D and other roles
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required
- Modules assigned based on region, profession, and specialty
Additional Notes
- Travelers may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance; float policy acknowledgment required
- Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
- Facility provides scrub colors for OR/Critical Care/ED/Maternal Child units
- Parking is free at the facility
