Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Towson, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry Unit)

• Shift: Days, 36 hours every other week (EOW)

• Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric

• Patient Ratio: 1:5

• Common Diagnoses:

  • General medical surgical population
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Chest Pain (CP)
  • Cellulitis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Pancreatitis
  • Post-amputation care
  • Small bowel obstruction
  • Atrial fibrillation/dysrhythmias
  • Cancer
  • Palliative care

• Special Procedures/Unit Details:

  • EKGs
  • Drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix (non-titratable within parameters)
  • Telemetry monitoring

• Equipment Used:

  • Telemetry monitors
  • IV pumps
  • Oxygen equipment
  • Pulse oximeter
  • Vital signs machine
  • Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
  • Bed/chair alarms
  • Chest tubes
  • Foley catheters

• Schedule Requirements:

  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • On-call not required

Experience Requirements

• Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Licensure & Certifications Required

• Maryland RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I9 or Attestation
• Government Issued Photo ID
• E-Verify or Attestation
• Background Check (7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Education Verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
• Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, badge photo, job description acknowledgment, and others as required
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (3M N95 or equivalent)
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (as applicable)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80% or higher, required for all units except certain roles)

References & Work History

• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager; charge RN acceptable if directly supervised)
• Employment history verification for previous 5-7 years required (attestation accepted if necessary)
• Agency application/resume must be completed within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

• Candidate must sign facility-specific job description and confidentiality agreements prior to start
• IT confidentiality agreement must be signed within 24 hours of receipt to avoid delays in access
• Portfolio Epic Training Test Out form may be applicable for Epic users meeting eligibility
• Respirator Questionnaire required and must be signed by a medical professional

This position offers a 13-week travel contract opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses with telemetry skills, working day shifts in a medical-surgical telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of complex diagnoses. Prior travel experience is not required.
