Job Summary: Radiology / Cardiology X-Ray Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift:
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Alternating shifts (1x8 hour, 2x12 hour shifts)
- Call: Required 4-5 times per month, including holidays
- Department:
- 6 technologists per day
- Work includes outpatient, inpatient, and ER x-rays
- 30%+ pediatric volume
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st timers are OK)
Skills & Procedure Experience
- Portable X-Ray required
- Experience with PACS, C-Arm preferred
- Procedure experience with:
- Extremities
- Abdomen/GI
- Spine/Pelvis
- Head
- Chest/Thorax
- Musculoskeletal
- Lower and Upper Extremities
- Preferred experience in Surgery/C-Arm
- Familiarity with Cerner (preferred)
- Equipment used: Siemens
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Indiana State License
Additional Requirements
- Call and holiday coverage required
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific respirators required)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) positive titers or vaccinations
- Varicella positive titer or vaccinations
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 12 months
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and compliance forms prior to start
Important Notes
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers. This does not affect this X-Ray Tech role.
- Locals are eligible to apply.
This position offers a dynamic schedule with weekend shifts and requires flexibility for call and holiday coverage. The role involves working with a diverse patient population including a significant pediatric volume and requires strong technical skills with various radiology equipment and procedures.
