Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Job Summary

• Position: Cath Lab Tech
• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Required Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Illinois License: Must have or be willing to obtain

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, required for Cath Lab
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
• State License Verification (AART and IEMA for Radiology)
• Other certifications as applicable per specialty and unit

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background Check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN Trace, National Criminal Database, Terrorist Search, Sex Offender Registry, Alias Search, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Fingerprinting and Registry required for patient-facing candidates without an Illinois state license (must be done in Illinois)
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, confirming fitness to work without restrictions
• Drug Testing: 9-panel test within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), must include Nitrate and Creatinine levels
• Mandatory Reporting Training (IL DCFS Mandated Reporter) for all clinical patient-facing/in-person positions, valid for 3 years

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray per facility protocol; TB Questionnaire required annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive IgG titer
  • Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Titer; vaccine series or declination form if negative
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – valid within 10 years (Td not accepted)
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required for 2025-2026 season
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not mandated but documentation encouraged

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% (or higher if Angoff score is higher) for RNs/LPNs
• Area-specific competency exams with at least 80% pass rate

Additional Notes

• Must complete employment application with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Professional references may be required (2 within last 3 years)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
• Facility-specific forms and documentation may be required prior to start
