Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • 12-hour day shifts at Mission Bay location
  • Ability to float to other UCSF facilities

Requirements

  • Valid California RN license
  • Certifications:
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
  • Labor and Delivery RN experience: minimum 3 years total, with at least 1 year recent experience
  • Postpartum experience required
  • Ability to circulate C-sections
  • Prior travel assignment experience required

Compliance and Documentation

  • Current and valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and sex offender searches, and education verification
  • Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required; onsite fit testing available as last resort)
  • Required immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB tests (2 required, with specific timing and documentation)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titers or 2 vaccines each)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (seasonal requirement)
    • COVID-19 vaccination requirements including booster 2 or approved exemptions

Testing and Competencies

  • Pass/fail Telemetry and Medication exams on first day of orientation (3 attempts allowed)
  • Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams (passing score 80% or higher)
  • Core clinical training modules (Core Part I, II, III) with annual updates required
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if applicable (psych positions)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required for ER/ED

Additional Requirements

  • Two supervisory references from most recent or second most recent employment (charge nurses acceptable)
  • Updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Employment history verification for 7 years (not required for non-clinical)
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including COVID-19 preparedness, HIPAA agreements, parking and uniform info, and cybersecurity training
  • Completion of UCSF Learning Management System modules within first week of assignment

Notes

  • Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine require detailed documentation and must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start
  • Background checks and verifications must be completed within 30 days of start date
  • Some certifications and tests have specific expiration and renewal requirements
