Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Nursery RN - Nights)

Location: Clarksdale, Mississippi
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Nursery RN working night shifts
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers OK)
• Local candidates considered (Local OK)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Patient Population: Mix of well babies, intermediate, and Level 2 babies (CPAP with occasional short-term intubation mainly for curosurf administration)
• Long-term intubation is not performed; infants under 35 weeks are typically transferred after stabilization
• Typical census: 6-8 babies, occasional surge to 10, rare drops to zero for short periods
• Staffing: Usually 1 RN with an LPN or CNA
• RN Responsibilities: Charting, attending C-sections (not vaginal deliveries)
• LPN/CNA Responsibilities: Feedings and rounding on well babies with moms

Required Certifications

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (as required)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (as required)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (as required)

Licensure & Verification

• State License primary source verification required
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Social Security Card required
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
• Residency Declaration Form required if working on a compact license

Background Checks & Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Education verification upon client request (highest degree earned)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit mask test within 12 months, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation (collected upon client request)

Additional Requirements

• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
• Signed job description and computer access request form required

This position is suitable for nurses with at least 2 years of experience in neonatal or nursery nursing, who hold the required certifications and meet all licensure, background, and health requirements. Prior travel experience is not mandatory.
