Position Details

  • Specialty: Oncology RN

  • Patient Ratios: 1:4
  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years (or MS/Telemetry experience considered)
  • First-Timers: Not accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes (unless schedule states otherwise)
  • Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Floating: Yes, within hospital only (no floating to sister hospitals)
  • Block Schedule: Not open to block scheduling unless otherwise stated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Maximum 1 week

Clinical Requirements & Experience

  • Chemotherapy experience required
  • Chemotherapy symptom management
  • Blood product administration experience
  • Experience with central lines, tunneled and non-tunneled ports
  • Most patients receive chemotherapy and many are neutropenic
  • Unexpected admissions typically for neutropenic fevers

Work Environment

  • Magnet designated, teaching hospital
  • Total staffed beds: 637
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)
  • Parking cost: Approx. $10.26 daily

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 45 days of start
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Multiple background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and state-specific WA WATCH search
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended
    • Chemotherapy certification
    • Other unit-specific certifications may apply (refer to unit job description)
  • Competency exams required:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (may be required)
  • Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, PCIS and Pyxis agreements, department checklist, email setup, and license complaint clearance
  • Physical exam and fit mask test required (fit test within 9-12 months of start)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted at this facility)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
    • COVID vaccination or declination for tracking
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (required by agency, not facility)

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required
  • Performance evaluations requested at end of assignment (Montlake location only)
  • Radiation badges no longer provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed
  • Candidates must complete EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation prior to start

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Oncology RN with at least 2 years of oncology or MS/Telemetry experience. The role requires chemotherapy and blood product administration expertise, weekend availability, and multiple certifications and health clearances. The position is based in a Magnet, teaching hospital with EPIC charting and a 1:4 patient ratio. Prior travel experience is not required.
