Job Opportunity: Echo Tech with Vascular

Job Description

  • Perform adult acute care echocardiography including:
    • 2-D Echo
    • Bubble Study
    • Color Doppler
    • Imaging with Contrast Agents
    • M-Mode
    • Portable Studies
    • Right Ventricular Inflow Tract (RVIT) and Outflow Tract (RVOT) imaging
    • Routine diastology
    • LV Strain/LV Volume using Simpson’s Rule
    • Siemens equipment operation
    • Isolation precautions
    • Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG
    • Procedures on patients in ICU/ED settings
  • Additional required vascular skills:
    • Carotid Doppler studies
    • Duplex
    • Lower Extremity Venous
    • Peripheral Vascular Resistance
    • Transcranial Doppler
    • Upper Extremity Arterial and Venous studies
  • Preferred experience with neonatal heart imaging
  • Variable start times: 7:30am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 2:00pm
  • Weekend shifts: 1-2 months, plus 3 call shifts per month

Required Certifications

  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
  • CCI RCS (Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Cardiac Sonographer)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all clinical starts
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required as applicable
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Adult acute care echocardiography and vascular ultrasound skills as listed above
  • Ability to perform procedures in ICU and ED settings
  • Competency exams including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology test (passing score 80%)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (strict single attempt policy)
    • Other competency exams as applicable to specialty
  • Completion of facility-specific training and modules prior to start

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease clearance
  • Negative TB test (TSPOT, Qgold, or 2 PPDs) within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Required immunizations or documented immunity:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (3 dose series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Seasonal vaccinations or declinations for Flu and COVID (masking required if unvaccinated during season)
  • Negative 7-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (with religious exemption process if applicable)

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days
  • Education verification of highest level completed
  • Employment application/resume with at least 1 year relevant experience and 7 years work history if applicable
  • Two professional references from manager or above (clinical candidates) validated within 2 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
  • Facility-specific documents and training modules must be completed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • All RNs working in ER and ICU must complete Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), or VIP onsite training with an in-person component within 90 days of start
  • Pass/fail testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG is administered onsite; failure results in cancellation of assignment
  • Facility-specific onboarding includes completion of Oracle modules and submission of photo for badge (white background, shoulders up)

This position requires a highly skilled Echo Tech with vascular ultrasound expertise, flexibility in shift start times, and the ability to work in acute care settings including ICU and ED. Compliance with extensive health, background, and competency requirements is mandatory.
