Travel Registered Nurse (ER)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift start time: 7:00 PM, with flexibility to start up to 4 hours before or after based on critical department needs (rarely flexed).
  • Facility accepts 36 or 48 hours per week.
  • Must be able to read telemetry.
  • EPIC experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • License: Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience.
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (required for ER)
  • Must pass medication and telemetry competency exams with a minimum score of 80% on the first day of orientation. Telemetry exam required for RNs working in telemetry units including L&D; not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, and NICU.
  • Ability to read telemetry is mandatory.

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
  • Required immunizations or valid declinations for:

    • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or valid declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
    • Varicella or valid declination
    • TDAP vaccine or declination (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal background, education verification, and Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance.

Additional Notes

  • Two professional references within three years required.
  • Employment application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Medication and telemetry competency exams are pass/fail; only one attempt allowed for telemetry exam.
  • EPIC experience preferred but not mandatory.
