Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Per Diem)

Location: Colville, Washington
Facility: Providence Mount Carmel Hospital


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Employment Type: Per Diem
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (interpreted as weeks)
  • Orientation:
    • Held bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Mount Carmel Hospital
    • Orientation dates for 2025 include: 10/21, 11/04, 11/18, 12/2, 12/16, 12/30

Requirements

  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience in specialty within the last 3 years
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA required)
    • ACLS (AHA required)
    • PALS (AHA required)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting (supervisor or charge RN references acceptable if direct supervision was provided)

Systems & Tools

  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Medication System: Pyxis

Policies

  • Separation Policy: 3-month separation required when moving from going staff to per diem or travel status

Certifications & Competencies

  • Mandatory Certifications:
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, ER, and Tele/PCU RNs)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) if applicable
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) if required by clinical track
    • Chemotherapy and Electronic Fetal Monitoring certifications if applicable
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
    • Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification for Labor & Delivery RNs
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Washington State RN license required
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
    • Multi-State Licensed Nurses in Washington must complete demographic attestations prior to start

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • State-specific searches:
    • Washington State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for certain facility types
    • OBRA Registry search required for CNAs working in Skilled Nursing Facilities in Washington
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests accepted)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Fit mask test (for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024)
  • Immunizations or documented immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declinations accepted)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024 (not required for per diem)

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Providence-specific onboarding modules via WorkRamp platform (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Annual Regulatory modules as applicable)
  • EPIC training modules must be completed within one week of orientation
  • Providence badge photo and agency badge required prior to orientation
  • Completion of Providence PD Unit Orientation Checklist required before moving to per diem work status

Additional Notes

  • References must be from supervisors and cover the required time frame with month/year format
  • Candidates may be required to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance
  • Candidates must claim their Providence account and provide confirmation prior to orientation
  • Some certifications and requirements may be waived or adjusted based on clinical track or non-clinical status
