Registered Nurse – ER (Night Shift) – Worcester, MA

• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)

Job Description

• Must pass two pass/fail exams at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry exam (one attempt allowed each). Failure to pass results in immediate contract cancellation.
• Telemetry exam required only for RNs working in units with telemetry monitoring, including Labor & Delivery.
• Study materials will be provided prior to orientation.
• Must be able to read telemetry.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification.
• Must pass medication and telemetry (EKG) pass/fail exams at orientation.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release required.
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal exclusions.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification is unperformable).
• Drug test within 30 days of start covering a comprehensive panel of substances.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including a physician’s statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Immunizations or valid declinations required for:

  • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination)
  • Flu seasonal vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
• Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests (one within 90 days, one within a year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive TB.
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (tracking only).
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Two professional references within the last three years.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.

Additional Notes

• Shift start time may flex up to 4 hours before or after 7:00 PM only in rare urgent staffing situations.
• Candidates must complete and pass an EKG/dysrhythmia competency exam within 6 months of start; failure to pass the onsite exam at orientation results in immediate cancellation.
• COVID-19 vaccine declination requires a specific attestation form.
• Some certifications and compliance documents may require annual updates.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification or equivalent module completion may be required on site.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring, night shifts, and working in a fast-paced ER environment with strict compliance and testing requirements.
