Job Overview

- Patient Ratios: Average 1:4 during days, 1:5 during evenings
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
- First-time travel nurses accepted

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required (various accepted tests, no annual update required unless positive history)
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters required if titers low
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination within 1 year
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history; boosters if low titer
- Tdap: Highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (declination accepted)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Background and Documentation
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days required
- Employment verification for last 7 years required (attestations not accepted)
- One supervisor reference within past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU; standard references for other units
- Background check including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender, federal and state checks required within 12 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required; foreign equivalency reports accepted from approved agencies for internationally educated candidates
- Transcript required if education verification cannot be completed
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech and specialty roles (not applicable for RN MS/Tele)
- Driver’s license or state ID with photo matching legal name required on first day
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete various facility-specific training modules and attestations prior to or shortly after start date; many can be completed via electronic signature
- EPIC testing or training may be required depending on prior experience and unit assignment
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
Summary
This is a night shift travel RN position on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit in a large Level I Trauma Center hospital. The role requires a minimum of 2 years RN experience, active CT RN license, BLS certification, and multiple competency exams and trainings. The position includes weekend work every other weekend and floating within scope. Extensive health, background, and compliance documentation is required. First-time travel nurses are welcome.

Always given very easy assignments. Their MICU is combined with the MICU stepdown so travelers were put in stepdown once a week but it’s a 1:3 ratio there and assignments were fair
