Physical Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)

Job Summary

Provide physical therapy evaluation and treatment for outpatient physical therapy patients, including injured workers. Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians, perform various functional and ergonomic evaluations, and maintain communication with referring physicians and rehab nurses. Participate in marketing and community outreach as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients per physician referral or direct access
• Supervise physical therapy assistants and technicians according to PT plan of care
• Perform post-offer testing (e.g., WorkSTEPS, APET), Work Hardening Evaluations, Functional Capacity Evaluations, ergonomic evaluations, and job analysis
• Utilize facility modalities and exercise equipment competently
• Manage scheduling, referrals, and phone communications as needed
• Maintain accurate billing code usage for various payers
• Provide weekly patient progress updates to rehab nurses and timely notes to referring physicians
• Maintain professional relationships with patients, healthcare providers, case managers, and industry representatives
• Assist with business development and marketing efforts when patient load allows
• Participate in community events representing the facility
• Perform additional tasks as required for operational success

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Arizona
• Physical Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Physical Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience in an Outpatient setting
• Experience in Supervisory roles
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with specific protocols for past positive results)
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Background checks including 7-year residence/work history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions (updated annually)
• Submission of professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care) within 3 years of start
• Completed employment application/resume
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency contact form prior to start
• Maintain all licensure and documentation in good standing throughout employment
• Compliance with all health and safety documentation and testing requirements

Work Environment

• Outpatient physical therapy clinic setting
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts
