Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bend, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Float required to all North Campus locations within a 75-mile radius (Redmond, Prineville, Madras, Bend).
- May be assigned as primary RN in any med-surg department or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, including ED for boarding med-surg patients.
- Weekend shifts required to average 1 per week (may be every other weekend or spread across weekends).
- No scheduled on-call shifts; may be placed on standby.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
- Total hours per week: 36.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of RN experience required (first-time travelers only if 3-5 years experience).
- Specialty Experience: 2 years minimum in relevant specialty.
- Licensure: Active RN license valid for Oregon (pending licenses not accepted).
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable) – required.
- NIHSS preferred.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP as required per unit.
- Clinical Skills: Experience with cases including COPD, Stroke, Total Joint, Sepsis, Colorectal Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Pneumonia, Trauma, Altered Mental Status, Renal Failure, Bowel Obstruction, Oncology, Withdrawal.
- Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, primary source license verification, and others as required.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year.
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B (positive titer required), Varicella.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
- Flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine preferred; declination or exemption required if unvaccinated.
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and other specialty-specific competency exams as applicable.
Additional Information
- Locals are not accepted due to 75-mile radius rule; proof of address required.
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs across multiple campuses including trauma centers and critical access hospitals.
- Time-sensitive facility-specific documents and agreements must be completed prior to start.
- Skills checklist required annually.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with med-surg float assignments across multiple hospital locations and able to meet weekend shift requirements.
