Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Float - Night Shift

Job Description

• Position in the CVPICU/Cardiac unit.
• Floating to other units is required for most positions.
• Night shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Approximately 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license valid in Ohio.
• License location on RRT license must match the address on photo ID; proof of residency may be required if different.
• Approximately 2 years of experience preferred in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
• Two professional supervisory references required (charge nurse reference counts as one). Peer references are not accepted.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Certifications

• Current ACLS (American Heart Association) certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• PALS certification preferred (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification may be required depending on unit.
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certifications as applicable.
• NBRC credential required for RRTs.

Compliance and Background Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing (temporary IDs or paper licenses generally not accepted).
• Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification through National Student Clearinghouse.
• Fingerprinting (Ohio BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Sex offender search and various Ohio state-specific registry checks required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification required; official transcripts may be requested if in-house verification is incomplete.
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, opiates, fentanyl, marijuana, and others.
• Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Affiliating Health Record must be completed and address must match official documents exactly.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (no longer required to submit copy; signing Infection Control Policy accepted).
• Infection Control Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• TB testing options: Two PPDs or IGRA (QGOLD/TSPOT) within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
• N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually; onsite fit testing allowed if prior testing not completed.
• Required vaccinations:

  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (no titer substitution).
  • Flu vaccine required for seasonal period (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions require facility approval and signed exemption policy.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via positive titer or two vaccines; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.
  • Varicella immunity via positive titer or two vaccines; boosters required if titers are negative or equivocal.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion, positive titer, or declination accepted.
• TB Questionnaire required for all candidates; additional forms required if prior positive TB result.

Additional Notes

• Legal name on all documents must match exactly (no nicknames or maiden names).
• Ohio driver’s license holders with an address within 60 miles of the facility will be considered local and may not qualify for travel status.
• Resume or employment application copy required.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
