Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract

Location: Willcox, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Setting: Very rural location

Job Description

• Must have Telemetry (Tele) skills.
• Experience with Pyxis medication system and MedHost documentation system.
• No local candidates within 50 miles of the hospital will be considered.
• Work environment includes medical-surgical and telemetry units.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Certifications & Competencies

• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for assigned units (MS/Tele and others listed).
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with passing score of 80% or higher.
• HIPAA Competency, updated annually with a passing score of 80% or above.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or accredited CPI certificate accepted.
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for MS/Tele units.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
• State RN license verification (NURSYS) must be run within 30 days of start.

Background & Documentation Requirements

• Background check must be started within 30 days of assignment start date and cannot be pending at start.
• Background check to include 7 years of history, Pima County AZ search, OFAC, National Sex Offender Search, all counties and states lived/worked.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks run within 30 days of start.
• Employment application with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained.
• Two professional references from employment within 3 years required; one must be supervisory.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA.
• Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year of start (PAPR onsite allowed).
• Full Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within past 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain pediatric and maternity units.
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start; if positive, chest x-ray within 1 year showing no active TB and TB symptom questionnaire required.
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
    Declinations not accepted for these.
• Hepatitis B: proof of 3 vaccines or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form within past year.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form.

Testing & Drug Screening

• 12-panel drug test required within 30 days of start and must be started within 72 hours of booking.
• Pass/Fail EKG and medication testing required on first day of orientation for MS/Tele units; passing score 80% or higher.
