Job Opportunity: Cath Lab RN

Location: Round Rock, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM


Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Assess, prepare, and position patients for procedures.
  • Perform conscious sedation and hemodynamic monitoring as necessary.
  • Prepare, implement, and document plan of care.
  • Communicate patient’s condition to physician before, during, and after procedures.
  • Perform and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures.
  • Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience.
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

    • Core competencies exam covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other topics (updated every 3 years).
    • EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score (updated every 3 years).
    • Cerner test-out and training checklist.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestations and modules specific to nursing contingent workers.
  • Health and immunization requirements including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted).
    • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or documented history; no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
    • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA testing, chest X-ray if positive, and annual TB questionnaire.
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
    • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address on file.

  • Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
