Job Opportunity: Emergency Room RN (Travel)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in a large hospital with a 23-bed ER. The schedule follows a 36/48 hour rotation over a two-week pay period. Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility and have reliable transportation due to limited ride-share options.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of current Emergency Room nursing experience
• Large hospital experience required
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current RN license valid in Kentucky or compact state license valid for Kentucky
• BLS (American Heart Association only; front and back of certificate if not electronic)
• ACLS (AHA only; front and back of certificate if not electronic)
• PALS (as required per specialty/unit/facility)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute Blue Card only)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination accepted
• Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
• Tdap vaccination (valid 10 years from administered date; Td not accepted; declinations accepted)
• Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
• TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
• If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years with TB questionnaire

Background & Compliance

• Background checks within 30 days prior to start including: 7-year county criminal, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender, SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, education and employment verification, and driving record
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
• Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days prior to start, annual update required
• Submission packet required including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
• Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor)

Skills & Competency Requirements

• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year prior to start, renewed annually
• Competency exams (passing score 80% or higher) within 1 year prior to start
• EKG and telemetry exams within 1 year prior to start
• Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety, infection control, elder abuse, age-specific care, cultural diversity, advance directives; renewed annually
