Job Description

• Provide safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice on Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit.
• Float to Med/Surg or other units of competency as needed.
• Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient condition, cardiac monitoring, diagnostic results, and symptoms.
• Respond quickly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses.

Requirements

• Current and valid California RN license.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital experience.
• Meditech EMR experience preferred.
• Ability to float to other units as needed.

Contract Length

• 26 weeks

  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • DCI/BVP (Workplace Violence Prevention)
• Training & Exams:

  • Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%)
  • Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80%)
  • Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80%)

• Professional Requirements:

  • Prime CA Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (valid for 2 years)
  • Prime Education Verification
  • Prime OIG Exclusion Search
  • Prime SAM/EPLS Exclusion Search
  • Prime Agency Attestation
  • Prime Resume and two professional references
  • Criminal Background Check (national, within one year)
  • Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9)
• Health & Safety:

  • Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel including THC; urine and saliva tests for CA)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine (2 doses + booster or declination)
  • Influenza Vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity proof
  • MMR vaccination or immunity proof (declinations accepted for this facility)
  • Varicella vaccination or immunity proof (declinations accepted for this facility)
  • Tdap vaccination or immunity proof (declination form accepted)
  • Annual TB Test and TB Questionnaire
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray (optional)
  • Annual Respirator Fit Test
  • Physical/Health Statement (clear to work, within 60 days of start)
  • Color-blind test (annual)

Additional Notes

• Floating to other units may be required based on competency.
• Communication and quick response to patient condition changes are critical.
• All required credentials and exams must be completed and verified prior to onboarding.
• Some vaccinations allow for declination with proper documentation specific to this facility.
• Drug screening for California locations includes both urine and saliva testing due to state law changes.
