Job Description
- 12-hour day and night shifts
- Care for a complex medical oncology patient population
- Step-down unit experience highly preferred
- Must be expert in chemotherapy administration and monitoring side effects
- High level of respiratory care skills required, including management of tracheostomies, chest tubes, Airvo, CPAP/BiPAP
- Ability to interpret cardiac arrhythmias and perform ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required
- Skilled in identifying rapidly changing patient conditions and multitasking in critical situations
- Experience with end-of-life care and hospice
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- UHS ONC certification
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Ability to interpret cardiac arrhythmias
- Chemotherapy administration experience
- Experience with end-of-life care and hospice
- High level respiratory care skills, including management of tracheostomies, chest tubes, Airvo, CPAP/BiPAP
Health and Safety Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap vaccinations or titers required with specific booster protocols if titers are low
- Annual 2-step PPD or IGRA TB test with negative results required; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire needed
- Fit test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (October-March) or must comply with masking and declination protocols
- Physical exam within one year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions
Background and Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months including social security trace, county searches, national sex offender registry, and OIG exclusion check
- Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks required depending on residency duration in Ohio
- Employment verification for the past 5 years through third-party verification
- Education verification through third-party; international education requires equivalency documentation
- Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted)
- Completion of safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance, with annual renewal
- Submission packet required including resume, professional references (within last 2 years), job application, and employment history form
Documentation and Testing
- Skills checklist specific to clinical oncology nursing completed within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
- Competency exam with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA topics completed within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement)
- Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background) required
