Job Summary
A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients, focusing on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit and promotes professional development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members and applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The RN also focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction, and mentors/precepts staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and reassessments per policy or as patient condition warrants; make sound independent decisions.
- Initiate, prioritize, and implement the plan of care; review and revise as needed.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services; utilize resources appropriately.
- Monitor and document responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitate, coordinate, provide, and evaluate education specific to patient/family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as mentor/preceptor.
- Encourage teamwork and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implement practice changes.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in the Practice Governance model.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for Kentucky.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience.
