Job Description

• Manage and dispense medications to incarcerated individuals in compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
• Ensure safe, effective, and ethical pharmaceutical care within a secure correctional environment.
• Adhere to strict security protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately dispense prescribed medications and maintain proper inventory/storage of pharmaceuticals per DEA and state guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies; maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled substances, and medication administration.
• Provide drug information and guidance to healthcare staff; review medication orders for appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications.
• Counsel patients on proper medication use and monitor/report adverse drug reactions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and mental health professionals to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in California.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical or institutional pharmacy experience (correctional healthcare experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, regulations, and controlled substance management.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a secure and structured environment.
