Location: Danville, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform radiographic procedures including CT imaging by acquiring and processing patient exams according to protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Review cases with radiologists as appropriate.
- Review labs and patient history to ensure correct exam performance.
- Administer IV contrast and oral/rectal contrast when appropriate, including performing veni-puncture if needed.
- Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy; verify medical necessity by reviewing patient history and clinical data.
- Acquire additional information from patients, ordering providers, or radiologists as needed.
- Ensure imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
- Transfer and verify image data in PACS and provide necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories and reporting malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety; report safety events immediately.
- Assist in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
- May perform duties of lead technologist or imaging coordinator in their absence.
- Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarks.
- Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
- May perform duties in other modalities within the department if licensed/certified accordingly.
- Operate general x-ray and other imaging equipment to produce radiographs of designated body parts.
- Use RIS for scheduling, billing, and coding procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate's Degree in a related field OR Certificate in Radiologic Technology
Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Illinois Radiography License (IEMA)
- Radiography (R) certification from ARRT
Experience & Skills
- Positive attitude with willingness to assess and improve the work environment.
- Ability to multitask while coordinating patient flow and performing various technical procedures independently.
Notes
- No prior travel experience required.
- Cross-training in other modalities may be required but secondary registries are not mandatory unless specified by licensure or accrediting bodies.
