Job Summary
Perform routine and special histology procedures requiring technical skill, judgment, and independent decision-making following established standards, policies, and procedures. Assist the Anatomical Pathology Supervisor with technical and administrative laboratory functions. Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and special histology procedures, ensuring specimen integrity and proper patient identification.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology instruments; perform quality control and preventive maintenance.
- Use laboratory information systems to order, receive, cancel tests, and verify results while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, pathologists, co-workers, physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow laboratory and hospital policies and safety procedures; participate in continuing education and performance improvement goals.
- May be required to work under stressful conditions, irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and take call as needed.
