Sterile Processing Tech

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado
Employment Type: Non-Nursing Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Variable 8-hour shifts (Tuesday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
On-Call: PRN and holiday coverage; multiple shifts may vary including Monday-Friday 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Job Summary

• Assemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and store procedure and surgical trays and equipment.
• Distribute and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment; disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.
• Sterilize, disinfect, package, and maintain records for instruments and supplies; transport sterilized items to appropriate locations.
• Assemble sterilized instruments and verify cleanliness and functionality; check power equipment.
• Track instruments using labeling, engraving, and documentation of missing instruments or implants.
• Communicate inventory status and order updates with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse.
• Respond to emergency situations ensuring timely delivery of emergency, trauma, and add-on cases to the Operating Room.
• Utilize technology and applications for accurate record keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Provide on-the-job training to newly hired associates.
• May be required to work overtime, float to other departments within competency, and be on-call during scheduled shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician within the last year.
• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
