Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Location: West Union, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Primarily 8-hour day shifts (start times between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM), some 12-hour day shifts; flexibility required
Hours: Approximately 72 hours biweekly

Job Description

• Work primarily in the Operating Room with responsibilities including circulating and/or scrubbing during procedures
• Required to have experience in PreOp, PostOp, and PACU; may float to clinic as needed
• Must be proficient in endoscopy procedures and familiar with GI (colonoscopy/EGD), orthopedic, cataracts, podiatry, vascular, pain clinic, and OB/GYN cases
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 during procedures; variable during afternoon clinic hours
• Weekend call every 3-4 weeks and rotating holiday coverage with current staff
• On-call requirement: 1 week of call every 3-4 weeks with a 30-minute response time
• Expected to be a resilient, assertive team player who manages change well and is willing to assist/train less experienced nurses

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS issued by the American Heart Association
• Proficient in endoscopy procedures
• Proficiency in GI (colonoscopy/EGD), orthopedic, cataracts, podiatry, vascular, pain clinic, and OB/GYN cases
• Experience in Pre-Op care

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided by the hospital
• Orientation is not guaranteed; 8 hours of unbillable orientation expected
• Must start medical compliance portion within 48 hours of offer acceptance (24 hours for quick start)
• Weekend and holiday coverage required as part of the schedule
• Must be flexible with shift lengths and start times within the day shift window
